Over my Christmas break, I started watching the early seasons of All in the Family, with the iconic main character Archie Bunk, who in the 1970s, represented the Everyman of racists and bigots. Archie Bunker was MAGA before MAGA was MAGA, and watching these sitcom episodes truly evinces the amount of growth and progress America has made during the intervening 50 years since the creation of Mr. Bunker. That progress, of course, is essentially zero. Seriously, listening to the character that the show writers created — as both a person to be mocked yet be completely representative of the times — echos what we hear today. One could easily update the stage set to something current and modify the dialog with today’s references while keeping the intent of the message the same, and the sitcom would be a perfect reflection of the 2000s. Everything Archie does and says about minorities, liberals, “my” president, the government, civil rights, taxes, and so forth back then is exactly the same sentiments that I hear from MAGA morons and RepubliKKKlans today. In 50 years, the sitcom has not skipped a beat.

Still, the show was not number one in the Nielsen ratings from 1971 to 1976 for no reason; the show is funny. In fact, there is one catchphrase that I think should come back into vogue: Dingbat! While Archie all too often refers to his wife as a dingbat, I think it can be easily repurposed to greater effect and for a more deserving target: Traitor trump. I think Dingbat Donald is perfect and says it all. It rolls right off the tongue. Now, if only I had the social media clout to make it trend.

According to CNN, “Col. Edward Shames, the last surviving officer of the historic World War II parachute infantry regiment of the US Army known as Easy Company, died Friday at the age of 99. During World War II, Shames ‘was a member of the renowned Easy Company, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division now known globally as the ‘Band of Brothers,’ according to the obituary. The story of Easy Company was later immortalized in the HBO miniseries ‘Band of Brothers,’ based on The New York Times bestseller by Stephen E. Ambrose.” It is the generation that was largely shaped by the experiences of the Great Depression and filled the military (and civilian) ranks to fight the Nazis and Fascism during World War II. They are literally the generation that saved western democracy as we know it. Indeed, they are the Greatest Generation and the most revered. Fast forward a couple of generations, and today those shaping the political landscape are destroyers of their ancestors’ legacy. It is perhaps fitting and ironic that the children of the Greatest Generation (Baby Boomers) and their children (Generation X) have so cavalierly failed to take on the mantle of their parents and grandparents to ensure America’s democracy thrives and survives. For what do we have today? Baby Boomers and Generation X are old enough to fill the majority of political posts at all local, state, and federal government levels. Do you want to know why our democracy is backsliding? Look at what the Baby Boomers and Generation X are doing and have been doing to America since Reagan. It is sad that the Greatest Generation saved democracy while their descendants are working to destroy it. This is what happens when institutional and generational memory becomes extinct. Welcome to stupid America. We learn nothing and forget everything here!

These smash-and-grab crime sprees are not mere larceny! People should understand this is not simple theft or some crime committed for the thrill of it. No! This is a form of terrorizing the public, who now have to worry about going to the mall. So, do not be duped into thinking these people are just stealing “things.” They are stealing our sense of security. These are violent crimes. Not violence against our physical bodies, but violence against the body of our society. As such, these offenders should really be charged with capital offenses. Seriously, lock them up and throw away the key. I don’t care how young the criminals are. This is one strike, and you’re out! And this is not me turning conservative or being unsympathetic (well, maybe a bit unsympathetic); it’s me just being over it and being sick of people acting like they don’t live within a larger society. Consequently, these criminals need to be removed from civilization — permanently! Let’s save the topic of police reform for another day.

Look! I’m just going to call it now. Kyle Rittenhouse will not be convicted! It will be a hung jury, and the prosecution will likely re-try him, which will result in another hung jury. Then that will be it. Look, morons. You’re just not going to find a jury of his “peers” where they unanimously see Rittenhouse for the trigger-happy MAGA moron vigilante that he is. There will always be at least one person on any jury who hears his case that sees the doughy white boy as some patriot because ‘MERICA! So, whatever! Welcome to stupid America. F*** yeah! ‘MERICA! ‘MERICA! ‘MERICA!

Back in April 2021, Elie Mystal — my favorite legal pundit — presciently observed in The Nation, “I can distill the Democrats’ decades-long failure to control the Supreme Court into a single concept: Republicans use the nation’s highest court to reward their hard-core voting base; Democrats use it to pacify their moderates. The staunch refusal of establishment Democrats to offer anything more than a token defense of their voters through the court is the reason Democrats are always fighting an asymmetrical war over the third branch of government—and always losing. The latest Democratic Party failure is Joe Biden’s Presidential Commission on the Supreme Court. Last week, in fulfillment of his campaign promise, Biden announced the composition of an 180-day commission to study expanding the court. Biden’s choices confirm the worst fears court reformers had about the president: He doesn’t want a solution; he wants an excuse to do nothing.”

Now, fast forward to the commission’s draft report where Slate sums up the members’ intentions well, “After six months of gathering facts and evidence, taking testimony, and mulling reform ideas, the commission declares that it is neither offering recommendations about fixing the courts nor proposing a specific path forward. One problem: In so doing, the commission is actually proposing a specific path forward—the one we are already on. The commission seems to frame the status quo as the reasonable choice and all alternatives as dangerous deviations. … To recap: During the six months that this commission has been preparing its draft report, the current Supreme Court made it harder for minorities to challenge racist voter suppression laws, harder for unions to organize, and harder to learn who is contributing funds to political groups. It has changed the law of religious liberty through the shadow docket. It has also, in case you missed it, allowed approximately 10 percent of American women of childbearing age to lose their constitutional right to abortion in September. If you survey all this legal wreckage and ask what can be done about it, the commission’s interim report has an answer: nothing.”

So, Msytal was right from the start. Biden’s commission scam was always only about placating dumbass Democrats. When the time comes, Biden will do nothing while claiming change is hard and scary. To be honest, without larger majorities in Congress he can’t do much, but certainly he is not gaining any favor with his current stance on SCOTUS. Remember, for example, Biden is against term limits for justices, so he’s a worthless institutionalist who just wants more or the same basically. News flash, f***tards! Traitor trump destroyed tradition and the concept of government working within conventional “norms.” This is a perfect case for why Biden and Democrats are so f***ing G.D. weak. They create pointless, gutless blue-ribbon commissions to investigate an issue only to throw up their hands and claim it’s all too complicated and that change might do more harm than good — because Lord knows the status quo is working so f***ing well at the moment. Then dumbass Democrats hide behind such reports as an excuse to do nothing in the name of returning to “normalcy.” It never f***ing fails! It’s always the same. RepubliKKKlans are destroying every aspect of America’s democracy, and the best Biden and dumbass Democrats can do is ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. I give up! Why even bother anymore when everyone already knows the outcome? Just ask Msytal. He saw the SCOTUS endgame long before the game started. Welcome to stupid America. According to CNN, “William Shatner is firing a rhetorical rocket back at Prince William after the future king criticized space tourism. … ‘He’s a lovely, gentle, educated man, but he’s got the wrong idea,’ Shatner said during an interview with Entertainment Tonight. ‘The idea here is not to go, “Yeah, look at me. I’m in space,”’ Shatner added, claiming that trips such as his represent a ‘baby step’ toward relocating polluting industries to space.” First of all, no one on Earth (and now in space) is more deserving of a trip to just beyond the Kármán line than Shatner. This is truly life imitating art! And Shanter is right. Not that Prince William is wrong, but he is missing the mark when it comes to the nascency of democratizing space travel. And I will say the same for every other liberal I see going apoplectic about billionaires “wasting” money on their ego space race. Liberals act as if the money spent on private ventures to establish commercial space travel is somehow taking the food out of babies’ mouths in the third world. Ugh, hyperbolic much? Look, morons! Space is the final frontier. (Well, some may argue time is the final frontier.) It is only natural humanity progresses toward that end. Last I checked, human advances do not stop at the expense of fixing every worldly problem first. In fact, it is usually the world’s problems that necessitate progress. Shatner is correct by saying space travel is required for future innovation that can ultimately benefit the planet. And I further argue that we can tackle climate change and space travel simultaneously. What is lacking with climate change is the global will. Yeah, yeah. People and politicians say a lot about it, but in reality not much is being done. If anything, we are advancing space travel faster than we are taking climate change seriously as a species. At this rate, we may crack the code to living in space and colonizing our solar system quicker than we decide to actually save the planet from climate change. Billionaires channeling their resources toward space tourism is not the problem; we are (humanity is) the problem for not tackling climate change sooner and with more urgency.

From the Wall Street Journal, “Researchers inside Instagram, which is owned by Facebook, have been studying for years how its photo-sharing app affects millions of young users. Repeatedly, the company found that Instagram is harmful for a sizable percentage of them, most notably teenage girls, more so than other social-media platforms. In public, Facebook has consistently played down the app’s negative effects, including in comments to Congress, and hasn’t made its research public or available to academics or lawmakers who have asked for it. In response, Facebook says the negative effects aren’t widespread, that the mental-health research is valuable and that some of the harmful aspects aren’t easy to address.” How or why Facebook has not been considered an enemy of the people is beyond me. The company should be taxed at 90 percent; they need to pay for the damage they have done and continue to do to America’s democracy and public health. There is a direct correlation between America’s use of Facebook and American stupidity. #DefundFacebook!
