My D-day prediction was 24 hours too early, almost to the hour. I said 0430 on the 23rd and the first attack started at 0500 on the 24th. I thought perhaps Russia would kick off the war with Ukraine — in earnest — on their Defender of the Fatherland Day holiday, as an ironic move, but I guess Putin wanted the full day to celebrate. So, he attacked the next day. I hate to tell you, people, but I told you so! I told you so! I told you so! I don’t mean to be crass or glib, but Putin’s actions have been years in the making. Meanwhile, the West was too busy looking the other way, right up until the final weeks. And when I say the West, I mean governments and citizens. Looking in the mirror should help you understand how we arrived at this moment. Today, we are all Ukrainians! If you feel otherwise, then go kill yourself or move to Russia! War is here! It is time for the West to crush Russia once and for all!
Months ago while the MSM ignored the crisis, I was sounding the alarm. While “experts” and other pundits were extolling the power and persuasiveness of diplomacy, I was always a nay-sayer. Russia never wanted nor intended to negotiate a way to avoid war; that was always clear to me. While said “experts” and other pundits kept using and couching the attack in terms of “if,” I always said it was not a matter of if, but only a matter of when. Putin wants to reunite the U.S.S.R. That much has also always been clear. No amount of negotiating or sanctions was ever going to deter him from realizing his wet dream.
Perhaps the only saving grace for Ukrainians is that Putin wants to absorb Ukraine into a new Russian Empire, so he probably doesn’t want to rule over a nation of rubble that he’ll have to rebuild, which may limit his aggressiveness at the start of the conflict. But if the capital Kyiv resists too much and for too long, then Putin may pull a Hitler ala Warsaw.
Now, let’s see how my other predictions play out. Namely, how long before Ukraine capitulates — 4 to 6 weeks — and how the West will sacrifice Ukraine for peace. Mark my words, morons! As of today, NATO and other Allies (Australia and Japan) still remain united and resolute, but I fear — a great deal — that will weaken into dysfunction. It is difficult to tell if this moment is analogous to Hitler invading Czechoslovakia or Hitler invading Poland; the former engendered appeasement and the latter started WW II. Biden is no Roosevelt and Johnson is no Churchill. For now, I am reserving judgment as to whether this is the beginning of WW III or a regional conflict. It is far too early to know if this gets out of control. But I’m good, but not that good. I can tell you this for certain: 44 million Ukrainians are about to have their lives transformed by living under a totalitarian state. And the truly, truly sad thing is that the citizens of the most powerful country in the world — America — will not care. And I told you so here, first! Welcome to stupid America!
