Allow me to opine on an aspect of the impending destruction of Roe that has been mentioned, but I think it has lacked the particular attention it deserves. That aspect is SCOTUS taking away rights. The long history of SCOTUS has been to expand the rights of citizens, especially the rights of minorities and the politically under-represented. When they have erred, they generally err on the side of granting people more freedoms, such as the freedom to be private, which entails everything from abortions to contraception to same-sex marriage to interracial marriage. But this SCOTUS of six people is about to take all that away. Think about that because I don’t believe it is sinking in with many people. The number of justices you can count on two hands is about to restrict the freedoms of over a hundred million people. In America, where expanding freedom is the norm, it will no longer exist. We are about to go backward. That is the true horror. Tomorrow and for many more tomorrows to come, we will be less free than the day before — and no one cares. Welcome to stupid America!
