According to CNN, “The Texas Supreme Court has temporarily blocked a pregnant woman from obtaining an emergency abortion in a ruling issued late Friday. The court froze a lower court’s ruling that would have allowed Kate Cox, who sued the state seeking a court-ordered abortion, to obtain the procedure. ‘Without regard to the merits, the Court administratively stays the district court’s December 7, 2023 order,’ the order states. … Following the ruling, Cox’s attorney said they remain hopeful the state’s request is quickly rejected. ‘We are talking about urgent medical care. Kate is already 20 weeks pregnant,’ said Molly Duane, an attorney at the Center for Reproductive Rights. ‘This is why people should not need to beg for healthcare in a court of law.’… In a letter [from the Texas A.G. Paxton] to three hospitals in Houston where, according to the Texas Medical Board, Cox’s physician has privileges, Paxton wrote Cox has failed to demonstrate she has a ‘life-threatening’ medical condition related to her pregnancy or that her symptoms place her ’at risk of death’ or major bodily harm. The state attorney general also warned the hospitals Thursday’s ruling ‘will not insulate you, or anyone else, from civil and criminal liability,’ including first-degree felony prosecutions and civil penalties of at least $100,000 for each violation.” I have no doubt that the Texas high court will uphold the Texas abortion ban! Because, of course, they will.
I am just going to say it upfront: I hope Kate Cox dies! Full stop! Sadly, this sh*t-for-brains country and, in particular, sh*t-for-brains Texans are getting exactly what they wanted when they elected traitor trump as president, who promised that he would end Roe. So he did! Moreover, f***tard Texans elected the corrupt state Attorney General Paxton not once, not twice, but three times! Each time, he ran on a platform to end abortions. So he did! This case manifests what people voted for, and guess what? It is long past time that people should start living the consequences of their votes. I’m f***ing sick and tired of people having it both ways all the time, especially in red states! Red-state voters elect RepubliKKKlans who don’t hide their disdain for women and minorities, but when they need something, they run to a blue state to get healthcare or use the courts to restore their human rights. (Or, worse still, people don’t vote at all.) But these same women probably voted for RepubliKKKlan politicians who are suppressing their rights, and they’ll vote for him or her again because that’s what people do; they vote against their own self-interests out of habit. Nothing ever changes because people don’t want change.
Moreover, no one f***ing cares. I promise you no one cares! Oh, sure, this story makes for great news headlines nationwide and probably in Texas, but nothing is going to change until women start to die — even death as a catalyst to change is questionable in red states since most RepubliKKKlans are part of a death cult where dying is just part of the political platform. People are collateral damage for the greater good: Government control over women’s personal freedoms. (And so to be control over gay people as well. Mark my words!) Idiot political pundits and dumbass Democrats keep believing (incorrectly and naively) that abortion rights are going to change the political landscape in places like Texas. It won’t — ever! As I’ve been saying for years now, abortion rights are always someone else’s problem; people don’t care, and like everything else in people’s lives, they’re simply tuned out to the most consequential events and political questions of the day. Only after it’s too late do people ask, “What happened?” Oh, well. Welcome to stupid America! Same sh*t, different day.
