According to CNN, “The number of migrants — many of them Haitian — assembled in the temporary site swelled from roughly 400 a week ago. At times, the number has topped 14,000. The surge may owe simply to word of mouth and social media that the border at Del Rio was open [it’s not], US Border Patrol Chief Raul Ortiz has said.” To be honest, I am completely agnostic about the policies and virtues of immigration. Legal immigration should be orderly and well-defined. Illegal immigration should not happen, but congratulations to those lucky ones who make it. Welcome to stupid America if you really want to be here. I do know one thing, though. No wall has ever stopped any population from going around, over, under, or through. Walls as the only solution do not work! They just waste money! But the racists of America love them as a cure-all and blatant symbol of prideful xenophobia. Ideally, border control is multi-faceted and comprehensive, starting with ameliorating social/economic conditions at the source (foreign countries) and ending with mitigating demand for cheap labor domestically. Unfortunately, recent mass migration from other countries to our southern border is directly related to climate change, but don’t get me started on that! (Because no one cares! Climate change! What climate change?)
My biggest complaint with Biden’s handling of the southern border is purely the optics of it and how it impacts the voting inclination of the center. So, I don’t f***ing care what the far-left and far-right think. I only care about what the swing voter thinks on immigration, and chaos at the border — predictable or not, Biden’s fault or not — clearly hurts Biden. It says more about his inability to control a situation. The mess at the border demonstrates yet another instance of Biden not having a grip on the country. The immigration crisis is additive to all the other crap — much of it self-inflicted — that Biden’s administration is clearly mishandling. It’s one thing after another with his failure to deliver a successful outcome. This guy needs a f***ing win. If he needs to come down hard on the border to evince his power and strength to control a crisis, then so be it. Let the far-left b*tch. I don’t care. As of right now, Biden is coming off as weak and feckless. But whatever. These situations are all micro-movements or micro-bricks — if you will — that are paving the way for traitor trump to win the next presidential election because Lord knows Biden’s DOJ is never going to hold the Insurrectionist-in-Chief accountable for destroying our democracy.
